Centro Medico Excel was founded in 1995 in Baja California Mexico as a Cardio Vascular Center, to deliver high quality cardiac and vascular services at affordable prices. The Center is located 10 miles south of San Diego CA.

Centro Medico Excel has treated over 6,000 patients for open heart and interventional cardiology procedures. It has grown to be one of the largest medical centers of Northern Mexico, and provides comprehensive medical treatment in all specialties.

Centro Medico Excel is known as a referral center for cardiovascular diseases throughout Mexico and southern California. The American Consulate in Tijuana recommends the Centro Medico Excel for all of their employees.

A team of US doctors founded this institution. Their goal was to provide life saving medical procedures which were not readily available to many Hispanics and Americans, either because of their experimental nature or because of the high cost in health care.

Centro Medico Excel's founding physicians are both US & Mexico Board Certified doctors. Their medical specialties include: Cardiology, Nephrology, Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology. These physicians do not own a chain of hospitals.

Being of Mexican heritage, these physicians were aware of some of the benefits of providing medical care in Mexico.

These advantages include:

• Lower costs – Everything costs less in Mexico, from the cost of the land the hospital sits on, to building construction, utilities, licenses and fees, cost of services, supplies equipment and medicine.

• Access to new procedures - Mexican Health Authorities tend to allow new treatments years before they’re approved in the United States. Mexican regulations operate under the premise that if a treatment works, causes no harm, it should be allowed until there's evidence of a problem.

• Freedom of practice - This refers to the careful delineation of approved treatments for specific diseases in the U.S. Trying something different, new or unusual on a patient in the US could expose the practicing physician to license-threatening law suits from medical organizations. These regulations stifle innovation, discourage the physician from trying new treatments and inhibit the physician from taking into account the differences between individuals and customizing treatments.
