Advanced technology and highly specialized training allow our staff to give maximum attention and care at the greatest time of need.
Our CCU provides cardiovascular critical care for post-op cardiac surgery patients as well.
Our Critical care medical staff and specialists provide dedicated and continuous care to critically ill patients who require advanced monitoring and care in the Intensive Care Unit. Our specialists, who have special training in the care of critically ill patients, work closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other specialists in the hospital.
Intensive care is needed when one or more of your organ systems has failed. For example, this might be your:
• lungs
• kidneys
• heart
• digestive system
There are many different conditions and situations that can cause your organ systems to fail. Some of the most common include:
• a severe accident, such as a road accident or a head injury
• a serious acute (short-term) health condition, such as a heart attack (when the supply of blood to the heart is suddenly blocked) or stroke (when the blood supply to the brain is disturbed)
• a severe infection, such as a severe case ofpneumonia (inflammation of the lungs) or blood poisoning (sepsis)
• major surgery, (this can either be a planned admission to an ICU as part of your recovery after surgery, or an emergency measure if there are complications during surgery)
Special areas of service include:
• Management of shock and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Respiratory failure
• Multisystem organ failure (including renal and hepatic)
• Sepsis (infection)
• Central nervous system crises
• Cardiac failure
• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
We have an incredibly diverse staff that reflects the many cultures of or patient population. Our supportive team environment is the essential key to our success in providing excellent care to our patients and their families.
The critical care team includes nurses, physicians, respiratory care practitioners, a social worker, a nutritionist, and a pharmacist all with expertise in meeting the needs of critically ill patients and their families. The nursing staff is active in improving the care of critically ill patients through innovative projects and later technology.
